How to Install DarkRP on Your Garry's Mod Server

What is DarkRP?

DarkRP is a roleplay game mode for Garry’s Mod. It allows you to play in a realistic and roleplay environment on your GMod server and you can even get a job! This can be a lot of fun, interacting with new players and building bases with your friends.

The basic map in the DarkRP gamemode is “Downtown”

How to Upload DarkRP to Your GMod Server

1. Download DarkRP here

2. Login to the Inbox Game Panel

3. Go to File Management

4. Go to /garrysmod/gamemodes/

5. Create a “darkrp” folder – This is capital sensitive

6. Upload the contents of the DarkRP zip into the “darkrp” folder

How to Install DarkRP on Your Server

1. Go to “Configuration”

2. Go to “Startup Parameters”

3. Change “sandbox” to “darkrp” – This is capital sensitive

4. Restart your server.

Facing Any Issues?

If this does not work, pleased check if you have downloaded and installed the DarkRP files correctly and changed ‘sandbox’ to ‘darkrp’ in your server’s startup parameters. Be careful not to modify or delete any of the core game files, as this may mean you will need to reinstall your entire server!

We suggest using a further addon called ‘DarkRP Modification’ which allows for easy modification of the game mode. If any errors occur, check the console for the error message, and try Googling it first.
